Equanimity and contentment

Liberation is not transcending the world in the sense of realizing highly absorbed states, nor is it indulging in or resisting existing states or conditions. It is the middle path between these extremes…It is turning to one’s own mind and seeing that the source of trouble is craving.

Dissatisfaction is in wanting things to be different than they are right now. If suffering (or causing suffering), one can ask, What am I craving, clinging too, or grasping? This doesn’t mean ignoring responsibility, but recognizing and acting from a place of balance, of equanimity, of kindness.
